Sue Brookhart’s Design for Classroom Assessment

What’s meant to be
will always find its way.

In the early stages of Hope’s career, she worked with a national organization developing best practices for reading assessments. During this time at SERVE, Sue Brookhart did an evaluation of the product Hope and others were writing. Hope had the good fortune of having dinner with Sue and stayed connected with her in the following years. As ERG sought out strategic ways to solve problems in the field of education, Sue’s work felt like a natural fit. In 2017, Hope reached out to Sue about ways to implement her work in classrooms. Today, we are fortunate to have Sue as a collaborator as she retires from consulting to concentrate on her writing.

I am delighted to be collaborating with ERG. The work we do together helps teachers develop knowledge and skills in classroom assessment, which in turn helps support student learning. ERG has terrific coaches, and I have a great time working on workshop content with them.

It makes me feel good to know that they are spreading expertise in classroom assessment to schools, more widely than I could myself. The end result, for me, is students and teachers having better information about learning.
