Sites to Support Math

After reading one of those brightly colored teacher mugs that said, “3 out of every 2 people have trouble with math,” we quickly recanted – It doesn’t have to be that way!  Getting our students excited about math and creating genuine understanding is something we can achieve.  Here are a few resources that might help us change the odds.

To help our students become successful in math we need to create a rich and encouraging math environment where they are free to explore, take risks, reflect, and persevere in problem solving.  By the sharing of ideas and activities, we can grow in our understanding and then provide our students with the mindset that there are many ways to “do math.”  We can pique their curiosity, strengthen their skills, and help them find that they can blossom and grow as mathematicians.
