Dear Teachers

From the desk of Hope…

Dear Teachers,

You Do Make a Difference!

At times you may think the barriers are too big and the task is too large but the truth is, you have what it takes to make a difference. The size of the contribution is not what matters. We observe you daily seeking ways to contribute, large and small. Your effort is unmistakeable.

“Nobody can do everything, but everyone can do something.” – Author Unknown

You influence the world by helping one child at a time. We notice the well planned, robust lessons but we also notice when you teach from your heart with praise and encouragement. Teaching is not merely about kids getting smarter but also about developing the whole human being.

“It is vital that when educating our children’s brains that we do not neglect to educate their hearts.” – Dalai Lama

You are asked to make lasting change. The old saying goes ‘give a man a fish; you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.‘ As a teacher, you could ask, “What if the water is polluted?” Instead, you forge ahead with what needs to be done to influence lasting change with your students, building their self-efficacy daily.

“The greatest good you can do for another is not just to share your riches but to reveal to him his own.” – Benjamin Disraeli

Go and lead the way, do whatever is within your ability and circle of influence to make a difference. Put your hands over your ears when someone tells you what can’t happen for the good of the child, go the extra mile for the children, look through your students’ eyes and deep down into their soul and think about how you can make a difference.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” – Margaret Mead

Thank you for teaching our children and making a difference everyday! Every effort counts, no matter how small and insignificant it may seem. Just do something, and do something good. The fruits of your labor will pay off. Teachers affect eternity; no one can tell where the influence stops.
