Revisiting Touching the Soul of a Child

From the desk of Carol C. . .

There was quite a bit of feedback from my post “Touching the Soul of a Child”.  A common question was “Do teachers still go above and beyond as this teacher did?”.  My answer is…Yes.  In this day and time for a multitude of reasons teachers may not go to a child’s house to teach them to read, but they do go the extra mile to make a difference in students’ lives.

Many times teachers themselves don’t recognize their actions as going further than what is required.  Tutoring for free and attending sporting events are two examples.  Anytime teachers take on something extra, they show their students they value them.  Isn’t that a great gift!

I would love to hear from you concerning how you and/or other teachers you know give of themselves beyond the school day.  Parents, what are teachers doing that show you they care about your children?  Let me hear from you.  Let’s celebrate what we do as educators to show children they matter to us!
