Education Resource Group Supports Teachers with Common Core Standards

It is an exciting time in education!

The new Common Core Standards have educators “on their toes” and this is fertile ground for us to learn professionally.  ERG has been working for over a year to get ready to support schools with CCSS and we are ready, willing and able!

If you haven’t noticed already, mathematics is going to need a make – over. The new performance based math assessments will require learners to apply concepts, read and write instead of memorizing anything! The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge necessary for our students to be competitive in the 21st century work world. Rather than math skill and drill experiences, students will be asked to apply math knowledge in a broader, real world context.

Teachers are currently learning WHAT Common Core Standards are all about. ERG Consultants are ready to support mathematic teachers K-8 with HOW to teach the standards. Our job embedded process and model lessons allow teachers to see what CCSS lessons look and sound like in the context of their own classrooms – no substitutes needed!

Below is our ERG menu of support for the 2013-2014. We hope to hear from you!

Reading:

Do you need support with guided reading, whole group comprehension strategies, reading in the content area, literacy centers or meaningful conferences with students? Call us today to personalize a literacy package for your school. (K-12)

Writing:

Our writing service is designed to support teachers as they teach writing across the day and use it to assess learning across the curriculum. We offer support in both Writer’s Workshop and Content Writing. Are you ready to get started? (K-12)

Math:

Inquiry, discussion- mathematicians in the making! ERG works together with teachers to create a classroom that supports student led discussions, mathematical reasoning, and collaboration. This service connects the common core standards with the standards for mathematical practice. Call us to invite inquiry into your math classrooms. (K-8)

Guided Math is an innovative framework for classroom study. ERG offers job-embedded coaching to help teachers establish their small group instruction, independent student work and conferencing. Let us help you “guide” your Guided Math instruction. (K-8)

Special Education Services:

This important service supports exceptional students to grow in every area. EC teachers as well as regular education teachers learn how to work together collaboratively to maximize potential for the EC student. How is your data looking? This may be a perfect fit your school this year. (K-12)

New Teacher Induction:

Did you know that almost 50% of teachers leave the profession within their first 5 years of teaching? This high attrition rate adversely affects student achievement and places a financial burden on schools and districts. To reduce this high turnover rate, beginning teachers need quality support and coaching. ERG offers a New Teacher Induction service that provides individual coaching for beginning teachers that focuses on classroom management, content knowledge/pedagogy, and instructional delivery/effectiveness. Our coaching process consists of model lessons, classroom observations, specific and individualized feedback, and lesson planning assistance. (K-12)

The ERG team is looking forward to hearing from you!
